On Monday 11th April, Playground Surfaces (GLS) were in a small village called Wadworth. Wadworth is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of Doncaster in South Yorkshire, England. It has a population of 1,229.
A main contractor has undertaken the development of a small play area in the heart of the village. The park will have a very natural look, with a number of natural products being used such as the green oak timbers and natural limestone boulders.
The centre of the park is a raised mound with a medium sized steel slide, starting at the top of it. GLS were asked to surface the slide with a product that was safe, durable and could be successfully installed onto a mound with numerous faces.
The solution was easy as in this more unusual scenario, as there is only really one product to consider when it needs to be laid on slopes and that is Notts Sport ChildsPlay. Olive Green was the chosen colour as it blends well into the natural surroundings.
A number of fixing methods were used on this site. The Notts Sport at the foot of the mound was stretched and nailed over the timber edging boards. These edges will be buried once the main contractor has finished the site. Some of the edges were trapped between a piece of treated timber baton, which had been cut to size on site and the upright oak timbers. The remainder of the edges were resin bonded to the purpose laid, brushed conrcete base below.
The site looks well and the contractors were pleased with the result and the time it had taken us to complete the job for them.
