Amongst other jobs in January this week GLS have been installing Notts Sport NottsSward surfacing but not as a playground flooring, but as a surround for a discus circle. With some relatively wet weather around the North West, Bolton council noticed that the area around there discus circle had become waterlogged.
As part of a scheme of expenditure to improve the athletics stadium, the council were looking for a solution to this issue. Although the stadium is fenced, the fence is only low and easily scaled if you so wished. As such the surface had to be fixed and highly vandal resistant.
GLS advised a 100mm depth, compacted MOT Type 1 stone raft, with a 50mm depth 10-6 clean stone top (also compacted) overlayed with NottsSward.
The council opted for a fjord blue colour as it's part of the city athletics team colours. Come on you Blues!!!
